There she wakes up next morning, and colours of the movie changes along with Lux’s happy, friendly attitude. As soon as he receives what he wanted from Lux in the night after the prom, he leaves her – literally, sleeping alone on the football field. However, sweet life for the girls comes to an end when Lux gets into relationship with a popular boy from school – Trip Fontaine, who was also a drug-addict. The sisters seem to be as happy as they are beautiful, and the narrator – a young boy who happened to be a neighbour of Lisbons - describes them as “a dream” of every boy in the school. The family seems to be wealthy, successful and loving, from external point of view. Sisters Lisbon attend high school, and their eldest girl Lux seems to be a protagonist.įilm begins with the description of tragic suicide of the youngest child in the family – Cecile, and mourning of her religious parents. The movie was filmed in 1999 by Sophia Coppola, based on the novel by Jeffrey Eugenides and is devoted to life of Lisbon’ family living in suburb of Detroit. I would like to analyse one of my favorite movies, “The virgin suicides”, which was, in my opinion, strongly resembled in the popular modern TV series “Euphoria”.
